A FiveM tablet script: what it is for and what to check

Most players never need a tablet. The jobs do. A police officer writing a report, an EMS medic checking a patient's history, a dispatcher assigning units — that work needs more room than a phone screen, and it needs records that persist. That is the question to ask of any tablet script: what does it do for the jobs on your server?

What the GKS Tablet includes

The two MDTs

The Police MDT covers live dispatch, citizen profiles and criminal history, the vehicle registry, weapon serials, cases with multiple suspects and evidence, reports, warrants and BOLOs, units and the roster, a penal code that calculates fines and jail time, FTO reports and an audit log. The EMS MDT has patient profiles with history and allergies, medical reports and its own dispatch queue on a live map.

Both are job-locked through Config.Jobs. Out of the box the Police MDT opens for police, lspd, bcso, sahp, sheriff, fbi, doj and state, and the EMS MDT for ambulance, ems, hospital, doctor and medic. Everyone else never sees them.

Paired with the phone

The tablet runs on its own, but beside GKSPHONE its gallery, notes, GPS, mail and messages carry across both devices. Apps that read from the phone — Messages, Mail, News, Advertising, Garage and House — need GKSPHONE running; without it the tablet's own apps and both MDTs still work.

Where setup differs from the phone

• No database auto-setup. Import gks-tablet/install.sql by hand; the phone's Config.DatabaseAutoSetup does not cover the tablet.
• Its own media tokens, in gks-tablet/config/serverconfig.lua. Filling in the phone's file does not configure the tablet, and photos fail silently without them.
• Inventory support is ox_inventory or none. The phone's other inventory adapters do not exist on the tablet; anything else needs a custom adapter.
• Keep Config.Framework matched to the phone's, or leave both on "auto".
