The police app on a FiveM phone: MDT, dispatch and job-locked apps
How a phone script serves police roleplay — a mobile MDT, a dispatch feed, and the config that decides which jobs see which apps.

A police department is the hardest test of a phone script. Officers need information the moment they need it, usually while driving, and they need it without alt-tabbing to a separate MDT window. Civilians must not see any of it. Both of those are configuration problems, not feature problems, and they are where most phone scripts get vague.
Three separate things, often confused

The MDT is not in the app list — the server adds it at runtime for the jobs that qualify, which is why it cannot be accidentally handed to a civilian by an edit to config.json. The dispatch and Job Center apps are ordinary entries and are restricted the normal way.
Locking an app to a job
Every built-in app is an entry in AppStore in config.json. Two keys decide who sees it:
- allowjob — one job listed is enough to hide the app from everyone else
- blockedjobs — hides the app only from the jobs named, everyone else keeps it
Values are matched against the player's job; the keys are yours to name. This is the mechanism to reach for when you want a department-only app, and it is worth checking that any script you are considering has an equivalent — a phone where every player sees every app makes police roleplay harder, not easier.
The tablet, and when it earns its place
A phone screen is the wrong shape for a report with six fields. GKSPHONE bundles a tablet interface in the same license for exactly this: the same MDT data on a screen wide enough to read a dispatch feed and a warrant list side by side. An officer at a desk uses the tablet; the same officer in a car uses the phone.
If you are comparing scripts, this is a licensing question as much as a feature one. Ask whether a wider-screen interface is included or sold separately.
What to check before you commit
- Can an app be limited to a job, and is it enforced server-side or only hidden in the UI?
- Does the MDT read your existing records, or does it keep a second set nobody updates?
- Can a call be taken without leaving the map or the pursuit?
- Does a civilian who becomes an officer get the app without a relog?
The last one catches more scripts than you would expect, and it is the one your officers will report as a bug in week one.
