GKSPHONE v2.8.0: GKS Watch, four new apps, and a home screen you arrange
The biggest release since 2.7 brings GKS Watch to the wrist, adds Clock, Weather, Calendar and a rebuilt Notes, opens the home screen up to drag-and-drop pages and painted wallpapers, and widens housing support to eight scripts.

GKSPHONE v2.8.0 adds a second device. GKS Watch is a full smartwatch that runs beside the phone — its own faces, its own apps, its own hardware on the wrist — and it is included in the same license. Alongside it, four applications join the phone, the home screen becomes something players arrange themselves, and housing support widens to eight scripts.
GKS Watch
The watch is not a shortcut menu. It is a device: a case and strap worn on the player's wrist as a real prop, a display with its own faces and complications, a Digital Crown, a side button, and an app set that talks to the same systems the phone does. A call answered on the watch is the same call; a message read there is marked read everywhere.
- Five cases — Ultra, Silver, Midnight, Gold and Sport — each with its own wrist prop
- Four watch faces: Bloom, Contour, Numerals and Modular, with complications the player arranges
- Nine apps: Phone, Messages, Wallet, Health, Now Playing, Timers, Notes, Weather and Calculator
- Health rings that track the day whether or not the watch is on screen
- Crash and fall detection that raises an SOS from the wrist
- Control Centre for silent mode, airplane mode and handing off to the phone
- The phone steps aside on screen when the watch is up, so both stay readable
Every part of it is yours to switch off. Which cases exist, which faces are offered, which apps appear, whether health tracking runs at all and which mechanics inside it are active — all of it is config. A server that wants the watch as a plain timepiece can have exactly that.
The watch is an item like the phone, and it can be wired to a custom inventory without editing the resource. It also does not need a phone to work.
Four applications join the phone
- Clock — alarms, timers, a stopwatch and the world clock, with the running timer and a ringing alarm on the Dynamic Island
- Weather — read out of the game world, so the forecast agrees with the sky the player is standing under, plus a home-screen widget
- Calendar — real events on real dates, with reminders that arrive whether or not the phone is open
- Notes — rebuilt on the iOS 26 design, sharing its search bar with Mail
Alarms and timers run on the player's own clock rather than the in-game one, and they keep running with the phone closed. The SIM application has also been rebuilt on the reference design, and the games launcher is gone — the three games are now three applications, with an App Store that has tabs.
A home screen players arrange
The home screen is edited the way an iPhone's is. Apps are dragged between pages, dropped onto one another to make folders, and pulled out again. Widgets sit in the grid beside them, pages are added and removed, and an app taken off the home screen stays in the App Library rather than disappearing.
Wallpapers can now be painted as well as picked: a colour and a gradient instead of an image, generated on the phone, with no upload and no hosting.
Contacts and calls
- Contacts rebuilt on the iOS 26 list, with all five of its sheets redone around it
- The call screen redrawn in the phone's own glass
- A contact's avatar is now its own picture, separate from the poster
Housing: eight scripts, one adapter
Housing integration has been rewritten behind a single adapter contract, and the list of supported scripts is now loaf_housing, bcs_housing, vms_housing, qs-housing, ps-housing, rtx_housing, qb-houses and esx_property. The script in use is detected automatically — Config.HouseScript is set to "auto" out of the box.
Property transfers, key sharing, bills, utilities and upgrades are read through the same contract, so a server that changes housing script later does not change anything in the phone.
Systems that already shipped, deepened
- Livestream — the economy moves to the server owner, and the city can watch
- Courier — parcels are loaded in batches and one run leads straight into the next; abandoning a run asks first
- Screen damage — the Restrictions setting now actually restricts what a cracked phone can do
- Messages — timestamps read the way iOS writes them, with date separators between runs
Under the hood
This release also carries a round of database and runtime work aimed at busy servers. Slow routes and quota denials are now reported once a minute rather than once per call, the startup schema check knows what kind of index it is building and says when one exists only in the CREATE statement, and the phone sweep reports that it ran instead of failing quietly.
A number of query shapes that scanned more than they returned have been rewritten, and the results — including the measurements that disproved some of our own assumptions — are kept in the repository's optimisation ledger.
Upgrading
v2.8.0 is a free update for every existing license. New tables and columns are created on first start; no manual SQL is required. Server owners upgrading from 2.7 should read the changelog for the configuration keys that are new, in particular the Config.Watch block.
The watch can be tried in the live demo on the product page — open the phone demo and use the watch button beside the theme switches.
